This project addresses the issues of fetishisation and sexualisation within society, surrounding my lesbian relationship. My relationship is constantly the topic of conversation at social gatherings, imagine being told 'I could watch two girls fuck all day' while you're trying to enjoy your own birthday party. Or while you're on public transport, a man harasses you offering you money in exchange to watch you and your partner have sexual intercourse, all because 'it will turn him on'. These are only two examples out of many, excluding the aggressive homophobia we have also experienced. My intention with this project is to make my viewer feel uncomfortable, either by the statements I have made or some of the provocative poses within the paintings. Picture being put it in uncomfortable situations daily due to my sexuality and other people's fantasies.
